Tyson Fury holds talks with Deontay Wilder as Anthony Joshua’s offer calls ‘mirage’

Saudi Arabia’s offer to host Tyson Fury’s undisputed fight with Anthony Joshua has been called a “mirage”.

Fury promoter Bob Arum has cast serious doubt on the fight that will take place this summer.

And he’s also ready to drop the £ 200million fight for a chat instead of a third fight with Deontay Wilder.

Arum and Fury flew to California from Las Vegas on Tuesday to continue talks about Fury’s contract with Wilder.

Rivals were due to complete their trilogy last summer, but the fight has been postponed three times due to the coronavirus crisis.

Fury ultimately left claiming the rematch clause had expired, but Wilder took the matter to arbitration.

And Arum thinks he could turn those talks into combat negotiations.

“A move to negotiation is possible,” he told Ring magazine.

And Arum added, “If I had to bet whether the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight would happen or not, I would say no.

“As far as I can see it all with Eddie [Hearn] is just a mirage.

“Eddie is desperate, he still has a fight with AJ, and he wants it to be the fight with Fury.

“But if a fight against Tyson is delayed, in the winter, then AJ has to fight against Oleksandr Usyk, and that’s not a big deal. Eddie is a desperado here. “

Hearn has denied claims that Fury could fight Wilder and insists that a deal – and an official announcement – is imminent.

“Bob is trying to apply pressure, that’s how he works,” he said.

“He’ll think it’s a bit slow now, give an interview thinking it will speed up the Middle East.” We don’t need to play this game, everyone is on board, just let’s go through the process properly.

“Time is running out and if we find ourselves in a situation where the site agreement has not been signed in less than a week, we will have to start looking at things.

“But nobody has a plan B, which is a good sign. Bob can talk about Tyson fighting Wilder, but he won’t fight Wilder, it’s a nonsense fight. “
