Honeysuckle capped an incredible campaign by taking his unbeaten record to 12 in the Paddy Power Champion Hurdle at Punchestown.
Henry de Bromhead’s remarkable mare followed her victory at Cheltenham with another convincing display at the hands of Rachael Blackmore.
Asked to go win the race after jumping the penultimate flight, Honeysuckle quickly put the light of day between herself and her rivals.
Her supporters had a slight scare at the end when the 4-7 favorite stabilized, giving Sharjah a chance to catch up with her.
However, she retired again in the race to score two and a quarter lengths. Stunning was third at 10 lengths in a repeat of positions in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham.
Honeysuckle was reduced to 2-1 from 11-4 to defend his Champion Hurdle crown at Cheltenham next spring with Paddy Power.
