Who won the Kentucky Derby in 2021? Full results, order of finish and highlights of the race

Medina Spirit pulled off a surprise in the 2021 Kentucky Derby, leading the majority of Saturday’s race on the way to victory.

Bob Baffert, coach of Medina Spirit (12-1), set a Kentucky Derby record with his seventh career victory at Churchill Downs. Even he seemed stunned by the result in a post-plotting interview.

“I just can’t believe it. It hasn’t entered yet,” Baffert said. “I love the record and all that, but it’s one of those things that I’m so thrilled about because, when you win it, you never know if you’re gonna be back … I couldn’t be more proud of my team. “

Mandaloun and Hot Rod Charlie finished second and third, respectively, with favorite Essential Quality landing fourth.
