NRL news, deal with Adam Reynolds, Souths won’t budge, Broncos theory emerges

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have confirmed they will not budge on a deal for half-back Adam Reynolds, ruling out any chance of rushing in with an eleventh-hour offer to keep the local junior.

Nine’s Danny Weidler reports that despite the best efforts of third-party personalities attached to the club, Souths will not renegotiate a late deal to have his half-back stay at Redfern.

“Souths told me today that they won’t come up with a late offer, a last minute offer to try and keep it,” Weidler told Nine’s 100% Footy.

“There have also been a number of Suds, I would call them, third parties, who have reached out to his manager Steve Gillis, saying that we can do something to keep Adam Reynolds here.

“But all the Souths tell me is they won’t budge on their offer.”

While the strongest word on Reynolds’ future appears to be a big deal with the Cronulla Sharks, the Broncos are still confident they’ll pull off an astonishing coup.

Brisbane Broncos coach Kevin Walters and executive Dave Donaghy have reportedly flown to Sydney to accelerate their quest to star out of contract.

But Weidler believes there could be whispers about a possible twin-pack deal to lure Bennett to Red Hill with Reynolds in tow.

“Everyone is saying he’s going to the Sharks and there’s a big offer on the table,” Weidler said.

“The Broncos are still convinced they can have him. I don’t know how they think they can have him. I wonder if Wayne Bennett might end up going to the Broncos to some extent and take Adam Reynolds with him.”

At the end of last week, Rabbitoh CEO Blake Solly gave the strongest indication yet that Reynolds would not be at the club in 2022.

“I don’t think we’re resigned to losing him, but we’ve made our offer clearly to Adam and I think we’ve been pretty honest about where we are and why the offer is only to a year at And likewise, I think we respect Adam and his manager’s desire to test the market, ”he said.

Joey’s Awakening for Souths on Reynolds

“Adam is thirsty for a long term deal, seeking financial security for his family. He has four children, and we can understand that.”
