Sadiq Khan will try to bring the Olympic and Paralympic Games back to London if he is re-elected as mayor of the city this week.

London has already hosted the Games three times – in 1908, 1948 and 2012 – a record that Paris will achieve when the French capital hosts for the third time in 2024.

If elected for a second term this week, Khan has pledged to set up a committee to review the fourth Games in 2036 or 2040, with a focus on sustainability.
