Billy Joe Saunders takes back-to-back victory with Canelo Alvarez on ring size

Billy Joe Saunders believes he won his fight to have a bigger ring in place for his clash with Canelo Alvarez on Saturday.

The Briton had threatened to withdraw from the shock of super middleweight unification with John Ryder waiting to replace him.

Alvarez was left alone to perform promotional duties on Tuesday when Saunders failed to show up for a scheduled showdown.

But after the Mexican said he didn’t care about the size of the ring, Saunders claimed the issue had been resolved.

In a video posted by Saunders, Alvarez said: “I don’t care about the size of the ring, I’m just going to go out there and do my job. That’s not the only excuse he has, he’s had a lot of ‘apologies.. I’m just going to go and so what should I do. “

Saunders then added: “I’m glad the problem is fixed. The ring is not a problem so my thumbs up I relax watching a few movies so Eddie [Hearn] bring in the ring. “

Alvarez was also caught in a row with the Saunders team as he made his way through the hotel lobby.

A member of the Briton’s entourage shouted: “What’s going on with the ring? We’ve come a long way, grow bitches.”

Canelo replied, “You are f *** ing p *** y.”

Earlier, Saunders’ father Tom had insisted his son was ready to go home.

“I can’t say they are coming face to face because the issue with the ring has still not been resolved,” he told iFL TV.

“There is nothing in the contract about the size of the ring, it is all about negotiations and the negotiations have failed in a big way.

“Canelo put an 18 foot ring, which I think is an amateur ring, as a fight ring. His plan was to put an 18 foot ring there, knowing we were going to start. [complaining] and he said right, 20 foot ring, that was his game plan.
