KARACHI: The upcoming series against England will help the men in green prepare for the 2021 T20 World Cup, Pakistani captain Babar Azam said as the team arrive at Derby for a three-day isolation.

The Pakistani squad have reached England to play in the T20I and ODI series and will begin training after completing this period of mandatory isolation.

Players will train here for six days before heading to Cardiff, where the first ODI will be played on July 8.

Captain Azam said Pakistan’s performance on previous tours had been good, however, he cautioned against complacency.

“The English team will not be an easy opponent at home. It is a good opportunity for the preparation for the World Cup.”

ODI’s best batsman in the world said the middle order was stronger with the inclusion of Haris Sohil and Saud Shakil in the squad.

Living in a bio-secure bubble is difficult, but we’ve adapted to it now, he said.

“Being captain of Pakistan is an honor for me. I am achieving the goals I set for myself.”

Azam said the support he got from his fans is encouraging and gives him confidence.
