Celtic are on the lookout for new signings to kick off their rebuild this summer, and Charlie Nicholas has recommended Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher a decision.

The Bhoys have signed Ange Postecoglou as their new manager and now have to back the Australian with new signings.

A multitude of players are now linked with Celtic, with their transfer activity set to intensify in the coming weeks.

Nicholas recommends deal for Liverpool’s Kelleher

Former Celtic man Charlie Nicholas has recommended a host of players in the Scottish Daily Express (06/29, p57), including Liverpool ace Kelleher.

“Caoimhin Kelleher once played in the Liverpool first team, he’s another. My mate Phil Thompson rates it very well and this is another one that wouldn’t be too expensive, ”said Nicholas.

It’s surprising that Nicholas thinks Kelleher wouldn’t cost too much considering he only signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool just five days ago.

The 22-year-old impressed Liverpool’s first team last season, so it’s no surprise that Reds legend Phil Thompson loves him – and maybe Celtic will love him, too.

Do Celtic need another keeper?

In an ideal world, Celtic would be able to bring in another cap given Vasilis Barkas failed to impress in his first season at the club.

Scott Bain and Conor Hazard were also unable to define the role, and Kelleher has shown the potential to fill the role.

Perhaps a loan transfer to Celtic could work given that Adrian remains at Liverpool, but a permanent transfer seems out of reach.
