Ukraine vs England LIVE: Build-up, team news and Euro 2020 quarter-final updates

Welcome!

Gareth Southgate says Jadon Sancho was not distracted by his move to Manchester United and instead is training at his “best” with England.

The 21-year-old is set to complete his £ 73million transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford after the European Championship, signing a five-year contract with the option of a new season.

The clubs confirmed that a deal was reached on Thursday, as preparations intensified ahead of England’s tight quarter-final against Ukraine in Rome.

But Southgate says such talks have not been a problem for the Three Lions, with the winger being tipped to make his first start at Euro 2020 on Saturday night.

When asked if it had been a distraction, the England boss told ITV: “No actually I think Jadon over the past seven days has trained at the best level in the time with us.

“You accept that there are a lot of transfer situations going on and no one is coming to chat, no one is going out to chat, but we can’t stop people’s phones from ringing, we can’t stop business from ringing. unfold outside of that.

“You just have to trust the players and I think they’re all very focused.

“I haven’t really had a long discussion with him about this at the moment because this story has been going on for 12 months, really.

“When everything is somehow confirmed, I’m sure I’ll have a chat with him.

“There is so much speculation on all of our players that I don’t pick up every individual little piece, but of course I check in with the players every day and see how they’re doing.

“Most importantly, he’s been very focused in his training and that’s good.”
