Dom Manfredi: Wigan Warriors winger to retire at the end of the season

Wigan Warriors winger Dom Manfredi is due to retire at the end of the season for medical reasons after injuring his knee in training.
The 27-year-old suffered a third serious left knee injury last week.
Manfredi joined the Warriors in 2013 and scored 42 tries in 58 Super League appearances.
The winger says the club website he had tried to hide the injury, but now suffered from constant pain which “affected my quality of life.”
“Over the past nine months the pain has increased and I’ve had more symptoms, but I’ve tried to fight it. I’ve gotten to a point where I’m having a hard time spending a week at training, ”he added. he said.
“I had been expecting the news for a while because of the pain I was in. I knew it wasn’t normal, but I just tried to hide it.
“It got to a point where I can’t hide it anymore, which is why I went to see the surgeon.
“Nothing else can be done. I will try to manage it as best I can this year by giving myself injections and getting the best physiotherapy and rehabilitation treatments available.
“I had some amazing lows, but I also had some amazing highs. Overall it was worth it.
“I gave my body to the rugby league and I would do it again. I believe rugby made me the person I am today.”
