LAHORE: Multan Sultans’ Sohaib Maqsood and Shahanawaz Dahani are likely to be offered center contracts after their superb performances in the recently concluded sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League, according to a Geo News report on Wednesday.

Both have emerged as the best players in the league with Dahani taking home the Best Bowling Player award while Maqsood receiving the 2021 PSL Best Batsman and Player award due to his outstanding batting performances.

According to Geo News sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has yet to finalize the central men’s squad contracts which expire today.

PCB officials are working on contracts and discussions are underway over some players, while the fitness of a few is also a concern for the board.

Players were expected to receive the new contracts ahead of the England series, but various reasons prevented this from happening.

Sources within the PCB told Geo News that contracts are under review, in the final stages, and the names of the players for the contracts will be announced this week or early next week.

“The performance and fitness of the players would be the priority for the new contracts and the same is tested during a training session in England,” they said.

Some players may be promoted to a higher category while others may be demoted based on their performance in recent series.

Hassan Ali and Faheem Ashraf are also being considered for the new contracts.
