Euro 2020: Denmark advance to semi-final with 2-1 victory over Czech Republic

Baku: Denmark beat the Czech Republic 2-1 in the nervous European Championship quarter-final tonight to reach the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since winning the title in 1992.

Denmark opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Thomas Delaney headed down a corner from a corner and the Danes doubled the lead just before half-time when Kasper Dolberg shot home from a perfect cross by Joakim Maehle.

Czech striker Patrik Schick scored four minutes after the restart, guiding a Vladimir Coufal cross into the bottom corner for his fifth goal of the tournament to tie Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of the scorers’ table.

The Czechs took the lead in the second half but Denmark held on for the win.
