South Africa beats West Indies in fifth T20I

saint george [Grenada], July 4 (ANI): The 25-point victory in the fifth and final T20I, gave South Africa a 3-2 series triumph over current ICC T20 World Cup champions, West Indies here at the National Cricket Stadium on Saturday (local time) This means South Africa have successfully secured back-to-back winning streaks against the home side following the Test Series sweep led by Dean Elgar. The T20I series victory also marks Temba Bavuma’s first series victory in his new role as T20 team captain.

A 128-point winning second wicket between Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram paved the way for the visitors to their final score of 168/4 at the end of their allocated overs. De Kock had a 60 of 42 balls while Markram had a career best score of 70 of 48. David Miller and Wiaan Mulder then came back undefeated for 18 and nine respectively.

With the ball, Tabraiz Shamsi didn’t disappoint by keeping the West Indian beaters silent, but it was the inclusion of Wiaan Mulder (2/31) in the attack that provided the defining moment of the day.

He took back-to-back wickets from captain Kieron Pollard (13) and Andre Russell (0) to stop the Windies chase, while Kagiso Rabada (2/24) and Lungi Ngidi (3/32) polished their tails to death after starting with good strides up front.

Markram was named player of the match and Shamsi received the player of the series title.
