Beach Watch monitors the waters of the Derwent River on 42 beaches and bays from New Norfolk to Kingston and Blackmans Bay.
One of the best water qualities is at Windermere Beach, a little-known spot on the Derwent River in Claremont and the worst is a popular spot on the east coast of Hobart.
Ursula Taylor, CEO of the Derwent Estuary Program, explains to Lucy Breaden what they are looking for, where to go and where to swim is not currently recommended.
