City have been one of Yorkshire’s busiest sides in the first half of the summer, so far attracting four players among midfielders George Moncur and Andy Cannon, winger Randell Williams and the keeper Nathan Baxter, the latest addition from the club who joined a season-long loan from Chelsea at the end of last week.
McCann, whose team begins the new championship campaign with a trip to Preston on August 7, is keen to recruit several more new hires.
Priorities include the introduction of a new central defensive option and another center-forward, while being in another midfield is another target area for City, who have been linked with several players including the former middleman Regan Slater and Lewis Wing of Middlesbrough, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Rotherham United.
McCann said: “Yes it was very important that we did some of our business early, just like last year when some came early and some came a little later.
“It was important to bring them in (four new recruits), they met the boys on Friday when they came to be tested for Covid.
“It’s good to have all four, we hope we can add some more additions maybe next week or the week after.
“We are still working very hard on this.”
City started pre-season preparations at their Cottingham training base on Monday.
