A person who sank in the waves near the Santa Monica Pier Wednesday night was hospitalized after an attempted CPR by passers-by.
Authorities said the incident was reported to Los Angeles County Fire Department rescuers around 7:55 p.m. at Tower 20 south of the Santa Monica Pier.
Rescuers arrived at the scene to find a group of bystanders performing CPR on one person, described by authorities as only an adult male.
Upon arrival, paramedics and rescuers took charge of the rescue measures. The man was then taken to a local hospital.
