A group of celebrities from the entertainment and sports industries have teamed up with professional FIFA players for a gaming tournament in the name of a good cause.

UK-based esports tournament organizer Gfinity hosted a FIFA 18 tournament in their own Gfinity Arena to raise money for the War Child charity, which now uses football to expand its work.

Famous faces who made their debut in FIFA competition were Inbetweeners actor of fame Blake Harrison, Danny Mac of Hollyoaks and Strictly Come Dancing, London Irish Under-21 supporter Lovejoy Chawatama and AFTV personality Damobb .

War Child protects, educates and teaches new skills to children whose lives have been affected by war. They have helped nearly 21,000 children access educational opportunities. The association is currently working in nine different countries; by 2016, they have reached 109,000 children and young adults hope to increase that number to 260,000 by next year.

With Gfinity, they have launched a new initiative called War Child FC which uses football to interact with children, helping them stay safe and giving them skills to help them in the future.

Anyone can create soccer tournaments to help raise funds for the initiative or fans can use the War Child FC badge and kit in the Top Eleven soccer manager mobile game with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity association. We’ve seen charity kits in FIFA Ultimate Team before, so it’s possible we might see War Child in FIFA 19.

Viewers were encouraged to donate during the FIFA tournament at Gfinity Arena which saw Harrison take on DaMobb in the Grand Final.

Harrison already showed his nerves of steel when he scored a penalty for England in Soccer Aid earlier this year and once again he hasn’t wavered. Teaming up with Fantic’s Rannerz, Harrison took home the trophy, winning the hotly contested final 5-4 on aggregate.
