Man City “look to Robert Lewandowski” as Tottenham refuse to budge on Harry Kane position

Manchester City are reportedly considering a move for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, with the club looking to replace record scorer Sergio Aguero.

Aguero left the Etihad this summer after his contract expired and joined Barcelona on a free transfer.

City have been linked with a number of potential substitutes for the 33-year-old, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane being their main target.

Kane has spoken of his desire to win trophies and the England captain is set to leave Spurs, telling Gary Neville on The Overlap in May: “There is definitely a conversation to be had with the club.

“It’s a time in my career where I kind of have to reflect and see where I am and have a good, honest conversation with the president.

“As players you don’t know what the president is thinking. He might want to sell me.

“He might think, ‘If I could get £ 100million, why not? “I won’t be worth this for the next two or three years.

“I am sure that [Levy] will want to set the plan from where he sees it, but ultimately it will be up to me and how I’m feeling and what will be best for me and my career right now. “

City are ready to pay around £ 100million for the striker, but Tottenham boss Daniel Levy is adamant that Kane will not be sold this summer.

Now, according to a Daily Mail report, City are considering a move for Lewandowski.

Like Kane, the 32-year-old is one of the top scorers in world football, having scored 41 remarkable goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances last season.

Lewandowski only has two years left on his current deal with Bayern and the report says City are monitoring the situation as the striker has yet to agree to an extension.

It’s worth noting that Real Madrid have a “long-standing interest” in Lewandowski and clubs across Europe believe Bayern may be willing to sell this summer to avoid losing him for a reduced price. next year, when he enters the last year of his contract.

New Bayern boss Julien Nagelsmann was recently asked about Lewandowski’s future and told Sky Germany: “Rumors about Robert Lewandowski have been around for ages, I think since he joined Bayern Munich.

“I think it’s normal for someone who scores so many goals that almost all clubs are fumbling.

“I think on the one hand Robert knows what he has in Munich, what he has in this team. I spoke to him and texted him. I am not very favorable to the first official act with a player who must immediately discuss his contractual situation. “
