Royals put starting pitchers Danny Duffy and Brady Singer on IL

The Kansas City Royals placed left-hander Danny Duffy and right-hander Brady Singer on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday.

Duffy has a left flexor strain and his designation is retroactive to Saturday. The singer suffers from fatigue in his right shoulder and his status is retroactive to Sunday.

In the corresponding moves, the Royals recalled infielder Ryan McBroom and right-hander Tyler Zuber from Triple-A Omaha.

Duffy, 32, left his start Friday against the Baltimore Orioles after being hit in the knee by a comebacker. It’s the second time he’s been sidelined by flexor strain this season.

He’s 4-3 with a 2.51 ERA in 13 games (12 starts) this season.

The 24-year-old singer was shaken for seven points in addition to two innings in his last start on Saturday against the Orioles.

He’s 3-7 with a 5.13 ERA in 19 starts this year.

McBroom, 29, has reached 0.167 in five games for the Royals this season.

Zuber, 26, is 0-2 with a 6.35 ERA in 20 relief appearances for Kansas City in 2021.
