Avesh taken for scans after suffering a blow to his left thumb

Durham [UK], July 20 (ANI): Fast pitcher Avesh Khan received a left thumbs-up on Tuesday in the ongoing warm-up match.

Avesh has had a scan and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team is monitoring him.

UPDATE – Quick pitcher Avesh Khan received a blow to his left thumb on the first day of the warm-up match. He went for a CT scan. The BCCI medical team are monitoring him, “BCCI said in a statement.

Indian cricketers Washington Sundar and Avesh have been selected in the game XI for the County Select XI for the three-day warm-up match in Durham.

The Indians won the toss and chose to beat County Select XI. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane rested for the clash and as a result Rohit Sharma is leading the outfit.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishant Sharma were also rested for clash, and in their place, Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav were called up in the XI.

The Indians stabilized the ship after losing wickets early in the game. The visitors scored over 250 points on the first day of the warm-up game.

In the second session, KL Rahul and Jadeja helped India recover as the duo took visitors to 188/4 at the end of Tea.

Early in the session, an impatient shot from Hanuma Vihari resulted in his dismissal as the batsman failed to capitalize on the chance to succeed in the warm-up match.

In the first session, India scored 80 points for losing three wickets at lunch on the first day. Lyndon James struck twice and a rare dismissal for Cheteshwar Pujara put India on the back burner.

Rohit Sharma scored just 9 points while Mayank Agarwal was sacked after scoring 28 in the opening innings. Pujara’s wicket just before lunch pushed India back before Rahul and Jadeja re-rolled the heats. (ANI)
