Hull KR continued his recruitment for 2022 with the signing of Huddersfield public service back Sam Wood.

The 24-year-old has signed a one-year contract and joins Lachlan Coote, Frankie Halton and Tom Garratt among the new faces of Craven Park starting next season.

Wood has made over 80 appearances for the Giants and is capable of playing in the field, as an outside fullback and in the halves.

Hull KR coach Tony Smith said: “He’s been in the Huddersfield system for a while, and we think he’s developed very well.

“Sam is looking for a change and he has a bit to prove himself.

“I think Sam sees himself mostly in the middle, but he’s capable of playing on the wing, currently playing in halves and second.

“He gives us a lot of versatility and ambition. (Sam) wants to be successful and he chose to come to us to be successful.

“It’s a great standard to have. Anyone who wants to be a part of us and has a strong desire to wear the badge – this has to be number one.

“He sees what we’re doing here and wants to be a part of it. To get better and help us get stronger.”
