Manika Batra makes a new request before the Olympics

By Nitin SrivastavaTokyo [Japan], July 21 (ANI): Two days before the start of the Tokyo Olympics, paddler Manika Batra asked Indian Chef de Mission BP Baishya to allow access to the playing field (FOP) for her personal trainer Sanmay Paranjape .
Table tennis competition at the Olympics is scheduled to begin on July 24. Indian Table Tennis Federation (TTFI) Secretary Arun Banerjee confirmed that Batra had indeed requested access for his personal trainer.
“Yes, she made the request, so far I’m not sure if her personal trainer will have access to FOP or not, but she asked for the Indian chef de mission,” Banerjee told ANI.
Before leaving for Tokyo, Batra had said she would try to do her best at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics which begin on July 23.
The first group of Indian athletes bound for the Olympics departed for Tokyo on July 17.
“I am very happy to have qualified for the Olympics. It is a very great thing to represent the country, I will do my best in doubles and singles,” Manika told ANI before leaving for Tokyo.
Earlier, paddler Sharath Kamal said it was the best table tennis contingent India has ever sent to the games.
“After a year-long wait with a lot of uncertainties, here we are on our way to the Tokyo Olympics. I hope these are the best India Olympics we have done so far. when it comes to table tennis, it is the strongest team. I hope we come back with medals, “Kamal told ANI.
A total of 127 athletes from 18 Indian sports disciplines will travel to Tokyo. This is the largest contingent India sends to the Olympics. The 69 cumulative events in the 18 sports disciplines in which India will participate are also the highest on record for the country. (ANI)
