Suncorp Stadium, Peter V’landys, NRL Grand Final, Brisbane, Covid-19

Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane could host the NRL Grand Final if the Covid-19 situation in NSW continues to follow badly.

Large parts of New South Wales, including Greater Sydney, the Central Coast and Illawarra, are currently in lockdown.

The peak in Covid-19 infections has forced the NRL to move 10 New South Wales-based clubs, as well as Canberra and Melbourne to Queensland.

Greg Alexander told Fox League the decision to go somewhere where the game is offered a full stadium made sense given the NRL would lose money by relocating the competition to Queensland.

“It’s been a crazy year and I guess we’re open to all options,” he told Fox League.

“If we can’t have people here in NSW, they have to get the money back.”
