Fortnite PC gamers have reportedly been banned from the blockbuster video game following a recent Norton antivirus update.
The new update is believed to have mistakenly identified one of Fortnite’s key files as Trojan horse malware, preventing users from playing the video game.
A recent patch update was released to give players a workaround for the issue, although some still had issues trying to log into the game.
Norton antivirus update prevented Fortnite players from playing after misidentifying a data file
Specifically, the Fortnite pakchunk0-windowsclient.sig data file was said to have been mistakenly identified as the Trojan.Gen.NPE.2 Trojan malware, leading Norton’s antivirus program to block it and leaving many Fortnite PC players unable to do so. to play the popular video game in Alles.
Fortnite PC players still unable to play should update Norton manually or use the Norton Security menu to restore the quarantined data file and exclude it from any future security scans by the antivirus program.
Notably, uninstalling Norton will not solve the problem, as it will also delete the quarantined file which Fortnite also needs to run. Any attempt to uninstall Norton should only be done after fully restoring Fortnite on the user’s PC.
