MANILA, Philippines – The Perlas Spikers are finally allowed to play in the Premier Volleyball League open conference after their first game of the season was postponed due to health protocols.
All members of the Perlas delegation tested negative on Wednesday and the team will play their first game on Sunday.
“The results came out some time ago, they are all negative,” said Tonyboy Liao, PVL commissioner. “They will start playing this Sunday.”
Perlas was originally scheduled to play at Cignal last Saturday, but all of his games were put on hold after a non-playing staff member on the team tested positive for COVID-19.
The team was then quarantined.
The league is now working on how to fit Perlas’ games into the schedule.
“We were told it was just a delay, not a denial. Thank you to everyone who whispered a prayer, sent encouraging messages, and rallied behind us! Perlas wrote on social media. “Above all, thank you my God! All glory to you! “
“Your Perlas Spikers now have a fighting chance!” “
