In a series of cabinet decisions taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday, the government of Assam decided to provide Class II government jobs to recognized World Championship medalists and jobs class III medalists at the National Games. .

In a statement, the government of Assam said that the monthly amount of sports pension has also been increased from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000. The Cabinet has also decided to provide sports pension to Commonwealth Games medalists and national.

In addition, the Cabinet decided to appoint a police commission headed by retired IAS officer Himangshu Sekhar Das and former DGP PV Sumant for three months to recommend measures to improve the police system, of their activities and deployment in the State. The two former bureaucrats will obtain the status of chief secretary.

As part of the state government’s decision to appoint a youth lakh to government posts, the Cabinet decided to initiate the process to fill 15,000 vacant positions in the Assam police force as of September 1.

The Cabinet also decided to create five new Assam police battalions. “A total of 6,270 young people will be appointed to these battalions,” the government said.

It was also decided to attach Printing and Stationery to the Information and Public Relations Department. From now on, the department will be called Information, Public Relations, Printing and Stationery, ”the government noted.

In addition, the Cabinet also decided to attach the Department of Public Enterprises to the Department of Industries and Commerce, and the Department of Home Affairs.

The government will appoint Dr PLN Raju, retired as Director of the Northeast Space Applications Center, as Special Secretary and Director of the Regional Space Applications Center. (ANI)
