Filipino figure skater Sofia Frank takes bronze in Colorado ahead of Olympic qualifying

MANILA, Philippines – Fil-American figure skater Sofia Frank has shown she is ready before her Olympic qualification later this month.

Frank recently won the bronze medal at the 2021 Colorado Springs Invitational.

The 15-year-old, born to a Filipino mother and an American father in Los Angeles, collected a total of 90.13 points to step on the podium in the senior women’s free skating category.

Courtney Hicks dominated the event with 100.53 points while Sonja Hilmer took the silver with 95.85 points.

Frank is one of three Filipinos to qualify for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, which will be held February 4-20 next year.

She is competing for a ticket to China at the 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy, a qualifying event, scheduled for September 22-25 in Oberstdorf, Germany.
