Fuego Del Sol says AEW Dark is paid more than WWE RAW

In the last episode of AEW unlimited, Aubrey Edwards and Tony Schiavone met recent AEW signer Fuego Del Sol. Del Sol recalled having worked Monday evening gross, or rather, when her “buddy” KJ Orso worked a match with Erick Rowan as part of Rowan’s story with the spider cage.

“They came to Oklahoma City. I had already done extra work for them. I don’t know if it was me, per se. I think he was just a friend of mine, ”Del Sol joked. “He was the one who had this opportunity, KJ Orso, but it was really the right time for him. I remember that day they needed someone, and my reputation for being that nice guy and not just a nice guy. The guy who listens, and can be coachable and be someone who needs to be.

“I remember that day quite well. They asked KJ Orso to practice constantly, over and over again, running up the ramp. But they need this visual of the cage squirting red stuff in their faces and running and screaming. So no mask, I couldn’t do it at the time, so he did. It was a good salary for him, and he went from there. He took this type of prop and they had this little capsule in his mouth, and so he just had to spit in his hand and rub it on his face because it couldn’t be blood on a PG show. There is no blood.

“It was just a red haze, a red substance. There was a great man who kept repeating this. “It can’t be blood. You had to cover your face all the time to hide it. I received some of his money that night. It wasn’t that great. I remember having my first AEW Dark check it out and think, oh man, AEW is taking care of me a lot better than it was that night. So I’ll tell you right now. “

Del Sol was signed on the night of the first episode of Carnage when AEW President Tony Khan and Sammy Guevara surprised Del Sol with a contract. Del Sol recalled the night he signed and what it meant to him.

“Friday August 13, 2021, a night I’ll never forget,” admitted Del Sol. “The very first Carnage. It’s a bit difficult to put into words. It was such an overwhelming feeling. I remember getting excited all day because I never even wrestled Dynamite before. To have over 40 games in the company and never be able to get on TV, the pressure was already there just to have a good game, just to perform well that night. And then to be shocked at how surprised I was afterwards, just thinking about it gives me chills.

“I get goosebumps thinking about it because I had no idea. A lot of people online like to joke, speculate, and talk about their conspiracy theories, but I had no idea. I was told to lie down during the break and receive a welcome from the crowd after our return. And I remember, I’m just sitting there trying to look hard as we come back from the break because I just went through hell with Miro and Sammy Guevara’s music, and I immediately turned head and I’m just overwhelmed with emotion.

“Me and Sammy have never interacted on screen together, and he’s a big star of AEW. And I didn’t know if they wanted us to ever be connected to the screen. So let him? , my best friend, going out and handing me the contract, and doing it on the biggest stage possible. on the first rampage was one of the greatest moments of my career. Probably. the the greatest moment of my career. “

Edwards wondered how Del Sol hadn’t known all day that something was planned for him. Del Sol explains that there were signs throughout the day, and he also explains why he didn’t initially pay attention to these clues.

“There were a ton of signs all day, but I was so focused on having a good game with Miro that I completely missed every sign,” revealed Del Sol. “I went to talk to the Young Bucks earlier today, and all they did was touch my fingers. They didn’t want to say a word to me, and I was like, man, maybe the Young Bucks don’t like me today, or, what’s going on here? There were a ton of signs I should have known, but all I thought was, oh they’re gonna let me spend more time on TV?

“Of course, I’ll stay there during the break. No problem. I’ve never been on TV so let me have all the time I can. I didn’t think about it. I thought it would never happen. I had discussions with management a few months before leaving Daily’s Place. They gave me a ton of advice on what I needed to work on and do, and part of that was getting out on the indie scene and getting better and better.

“And so, I was totally prepared to do that and I was totally prepared to, when we left Jacksonville, not to hit the road with you guys.” It was a surprise to be brought out on the road for the few weeks that I did, and I feel like the reactions I got surprised everyone. And I guess that surprised management enough to change their minds and I understand that from a business perspective.

“I feel like sometimes the fans don’t get that, but as a businessman, to invest in someone, you want to make sure you get your return on your investment. feel like there was a lot going on with no fans. What did I just love about the Jacksonville audience? What did I just love about this audience The internet? Or what I liked about everyone? And I feel like slowly but surely I was able to prove it, and the fans kind of took the lead for me. “

Del Sol is mainly featured on Dark other Dark: Elevation. Schiavone noted how unique it was for Del Sol to be signed under these circumstances, as well as for Del Sol to be signed after the fan support he received on Sammy Guevara’s vlog.

“I think it’s very unique. I always joke with people. It was certainly not the 40 losses that made me love the public, “said Del Sol.” It was totally, 100%, Sammy Guevara because I really didn’t have a giant name on the indie scene. Some of these guys have to pop into the indie scene and make a name for themselves.

“It’s a very unique situation that it was really the vlogging that pushed me to push the boundaries with audiences and loved me so much. And I feel whether that is my personality or not, I have the I felt like I slowly gained respect in the dressing room through my matches and things like that, and I slowly gained respect from people through vlogging.

“It was just about winning the direction at the end, and I feel like with a combination of everything, I feel like that’s what got me to this point. But certainly just to show my personality each week on the vlog, I thank Sammy Guevara so much because he had nothing to do with any of this. He’s the man with the platform. He was the man by that name, but he’s such a generous person and a good friend that it helped me get to this point. “
