Boca Juniors owned by Defensa y Justicia

BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) – Boca Juniors missed an opportunity to keep in touch with Argentina’s Primera Division leaders on Tuesday as they were held in check by Defensa y Justicia for a home draw.

Boca controlled 60 percent of possession but could only handle three shots on target against a Defensa side who often defended with nine or 10 men behind the ball.

The result at La Bombonera extends Boca’s unbeaten streak to five matches, but they are now eight points behind leaders Talleres Cordoba and Lanus.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Cordoba center claimed a 2-0 home win over Atletico Tucuman thanks to a second-half brace from Lucas Melano.

In other results, Talleres Cordoba won 2-1 at home against Platense and Arsenal Sarandi was held in check by Colon.
