Manchester [UK], September 15 (ANI): Manchester United defender Harry Maguire believes his side have plenty of time to recover from the defeat to Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League.
On the pitch, United No.7 Cristiano Ronaldo and co experienced a night of horror in Bern as BSC Young Boys beat United 2-1 in their first UEFA Champions League game.
“Of course, discipline is an integral part of tournament football. If it was a knockout game and we came out of the competition because we are down to 10 men, everyone would give each other kicking, “said Maguire, as quoted by Goal.com.
“We are lucky that this is the group’s first game and we have a lot of time to bounce back. Discipline is an integral part of football,” he added.
Jesse Lingard’s misplaced pass in the 95th minute ultimately led to Man Utd losing in the game.
“With Jesse, no footballer likes to make mistakes, but that is obviously an integral part of the game. We, every footballer makes human mistakes, we will learn from them, they will learn from them,” said Maguire.
“He will get up and be ready to go on Sunday, that’s an integral part of football. But of course, discipline is an important part,” he added.
For United, Ronaldo scored the only goal. The forward’s return to competition for Manchester United marked another milestone as he tied Iker Casillas’ mark for making most Champions League appearances. (ANI)
