Castleford gave Suaia Matagi a two-year contract after her loan expired.
33-year-old prop Suaia Matagi made 13 appearances for the Tigers in 2021 after joining them on a one-year loan from Huddersfield and did enough to impress incoming coach Lee Radford.
Radford said: “Sui has a great pedigree coming from the NRL and I was really impressed with his performance, I think he was fantastic.
“He’s got a speed in which he plays, a higher speed, a type of front rower at the gate and there is a place on the team for those types of players.
“Either they come in and turn the tide of a game, or they lay the groundwork early in a game, it’s really important. “
Suaia Matagi, who played in the NRL for the New Zealand Warriors, Sydney Roosters, Penrith and Parramatta, said: “I’m really excited and grateful to Castleford for the opportunity this year and I’m really excited to stay here and I hope to do something special in the next two seasons.
“It was a roller coaster ride for me. I had a slow start and injured my calf in the preseason and then I really started to find my feet at the end of the year.
“I am really grateful for this opportunity and I hope we can do something special.”
Matagai has won seven caps for Samoa and has played two World Cups.
Graham signs new deal with Castleford
Young striker Brad Graham has signed a new one-year contract with Castleford.
The 20-year-old passed through the club’s academy before making his Super League debut in 2020. He made two more first-team appearances in 2021.
He said: “I am very happy, I have been here since I was 14 and I am really happy! Obviously, with the arrival of a new coach and obtaining a one-year contract to see what I can do with new staff with the team, I really hope to start and develop my game under Lee. . “
