LAHORE, Pakistan – Pakistani team captain Babar Azam is confident about his team’s opener against Indian rival at the upcoming T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
The two teams will face off in Dubai on October 24 – a highly anticipated match for cricket fans across the subcontinent.
Babar, the number one in the ODI men’s batting standings, said his morale was good and the team wanted to get a good start to the tournament by beating India in the opener.
He added that gaining momentum early in the tournament will help improve team confidence.
The prolific top-notch batsman known for his discipline and level-headed demeanor also shed light on Pakistan’s opening pair for the mega event.
“I will open the sleeves with Rizwan during the World Cup, but we can revise our plans after assessing the situation,” he said, quoted by Abbas Raza of Express Media Group.
He also stressed the importance of having all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez and all-round veteran Shoaib Malik on the team.
He was optimistic about using the experience and winning skills of the duo’s Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik on the pitch.
The mega international cricket event will take place from October 17 to November 14 in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
