MANILA, Philippines – PBA legend Robert “Sonny” Jaworski Jr. suffers from a rare blood disease, his son “Dodot” Jaworski Jr. recently revealed.

Dotdot shared in an interview with Anthony Taberna’s Tune in Kay Tunying that his father Robert suffers from a blood disease in which he is anemic despite having high levels of iron in his blood.

Their family has been searching for a cure for the great basketball player, known as “Living Legend”, in the Philippines and abroad for some time.

“It’s a problem where his iron levels are high, so he has very high iron levels but at the same time he’s anemic,” Dodot said. “So for so many years we have tried to look for doctors here and abroad, but none of them can understand what is really happening to my father.”

Low iron levels usually characterize anemia, and fatigue is the first symptom of the disease.

Dodot said his father continued to rest at their home in Corinthian Gardens, where the legend of Ginebra is sometimes a ball of energy and other times he would simply choose to sit quietly.

“There are days when he’s in a really good mood and he’s fine, but there are also times when he doesn’t do anything and stays silent,” said Dodot, who is running for Pasig City as vice-mayor in as running mate of outgoing mayor Vico Sotto.

“I really hope that his strength will come back, but we are continually looking for ways to find out what really is the cause of the blood disorder. We will find a solution to his illness. “
