Lahore [Pakistan], Oct 14 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday provisionally suspended Zeeshan Malik from the Northern Cricket Association under Article 4.7.1 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code, meaning he cannot participate in any cricket-related activity pending investigation by PCB anti-corruption unit.
Article 4.7.1 reads as follows: When either: (a) the CCP decides to charge a Participant with an offense under this Anti-Corruption Code; or (b) the PCB considers that there are other exceptional circumstances concerning a participant (for example, where a competent police authority has arrested and / or charged a participant with a violation of any relevant criminal law relating to facts or circumstances which may also constitute an offense under this Anti-Corruption Code), he shall have the discretion, in circumstances where he considers that the integrity of the sport could otherwise be seriously compromised, to temporarily suspend the participant pending for the anti-corruption court to determine whether he / she has committed an offense.
Any decision to provisionally suspend the Participant will be communicated to the Participant in writing, with a copy sent at the same time to the ICC and, where applicable, to the National Cricket Federation to which the Participant is affiliated.
“As this is an ongoing investigation, the PCB will not make any further comment,” the board said in an official statement. (ANI)
