Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of the SwimSwam College Recruitment Channel and all engagement news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who have supported them on their journey.
James hart from Plymouth, England, announced their commitment to swim and study at Oakland University starting in the 2022-2023 academic year.
“I am truly honored to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Oakland University. I have to thank everyone involved in the recruiting process and of course my UK Swim Club Plymouth Leander without them and my coaches I would not have had such an amazing opportunity. I have already been very well received at OU and look forward to arriving in Fall 2022. Many thanks to everyone who has supported me so far in the process. “
Hart swims for Plymouth Leander in Plymouth, England. He has not competed since March 2020 when he swam at the Edinburgh international meeting and set a season best time in the 100 butterfly long course (56.12).
He was the British age group champion in the 200 butterfly from 2018 to 2020, and was also the 2019 age group champion in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly.
His best long-run times with short-run court conversions are:
100 butterfly: 55.69 (48.90)
200 butterfly: 2: 03.43 (1: 48.67)
100 free: 55.19 (48.27)
200 free: 1: 56.78 (1: 42.32)
Oakland University is a public university located in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The school is a member of the Horizon League in Division I of the NCAA.
The Oakland men won their eighth consecutive Horizon League championship last April. Redshirt second year Christian Bart took home athlete of the year and swimmer of the competition honors.
Based on his best converted times, Hart would have scored in the 100 and 200 butterfly A final and the 200 freestyle B final. His best time converted to the 200 butterfly also places him seventh in Oakland school history.
His best time converted to the 100 butterfly would have placed him second on the Oakland roster in the 2020-2021 season. He would have been third in the line-up in the 200 butterfly and sixth in the 200 freestyle.
Hart will arrive on campus next fall as a member of Class 2026 with Sofus Balladone, Kieron Bezuidenhout, and Micah Scheffer.
