Mikel Arteta reflects on Arsenal’s loss to Liverpool

It has been a roller coaster season so far for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side.

After finding themselves at the bottom of the Premier League after three games, failing to collect even a single point, the Gunners burst into tears and headed for Saturday’s game against Liverpool on a 10-game unbeaten streak.

A heartbreaking 4-0 loss has now brought them back to Earth with a bump, but Arteta’s side now have real ambitions to secure Champions League football at the end of the season.

To do so, new faces may well be brought in during the January transfer window, with one target reported receiving advice from football legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic as he tries to secure a big move.

Odegaard sees history repeating itself

Martin Odegaard was just 17 when he agreed to join Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid.

His arrival was greeted with intrigue in the football world, with many agreeing that the Galacticos had just secured one of the best young prospects in several years.

But Odegaard’s career at Madrid fell through as he was forced to look at guidelines or be dispatched elsewhere on loan.

After his summer stint in the Emirates, we could forgive Odegaard for feeling a strong sense of déjà vu.

Zlatan’s advice to Dusan Vlahovic

The Gunners have been largely linked with a January move for Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic.

The forward has impressed in recent seasons in Italy, although Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle are also reportedly watching the striker.

And as he struggles to get his big budget, the forward has received encouraging advice from football legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic after their sides met in Serie A.

Arsenal’s “best player”

Arsenal’s forgotten man Jack Wilshere has become the club’s “best player” in training, according to youngster Bradley Ibrahim.

Wilshere returned to his childhood club earlier this season as Mikel Arteta offered the former England international the chance to train at London Colney until he found a new club after being released by Bournemouth at the end of last season.

The move has even led to calls from sections of the fan base to offer Wilshere a permanent deal, and according to Arsenal prospect Ibrahim, it looks like he could be on the right track to get there.
