Farfetch and Clipper launch luxury goods delivery joint venture

By Joshua Kirby

Farfetch Ltd. and Clipper Logistics PLC have agreed to form a 50-50 joint venture in luxury goods order fulfillment, the two companies said Thursday.

Anglo-Portuguese luxury e-commerce platform Farfetch said the joint venture builds on its existing relationship with London-listed Clipper and fills a gap in the market for a dedicated luxury logistics player.

The joint venture will work with inventory including Farfetch’s own brands such as Browns and New Guards Group, as well as partner brands sold on the platform, said Farfetch, which is listed in New York.

The joint venture will allow Farfetch to bring inventory closer to customers through access to Clipper’s global warehousing network, said Luis Teixeira, COO.

The new business is expected to launch early next year, with operations in key luxury markets in Europe, Asia and North America, and geographic expansion expected in the medium term.

The two companies have not disclosed any financial details of the deal.
