Morgan Escare was once the poster for the French rugby league.
Magician of the Catalans Dragons, the full-back made his debut in 2013 for the French team before moving on to new pastures with the Wigan Warriors.
In 91 appearances for the Catalans, Escare had scored 65 times with 22 more tries in 77 appearances for the Warriors.
On the outskirts due to the arrival of Zak Hardaker and Bevan French at DW Stadium, Escare was loaned to Wakefield Trinity and then definitively to the Salford Red Devils ahead of the 2021 Super League season.
However, the elusive 30-year-old has only played for Lancashire five times in 2021 with injury and form that interrupted Escare’s season on more than one occasion.
Then speculation about his future from various sources emerged, claiming the Frenchman had been offered to other clubs.
Still, Escare seemed perfectly settled in Salford’s pre-season training, working alongside Salford favorite Ken Sio as the club look to improve on their 11th place in 2021.
New head coach Paul Rowley will be up for the challenge in what is, surprisingly, his first Super League position, although he has been key in bringing Toronto Wolfpack and Leigh Centurions to the top.
Escare won the number one jersey before last season, but he will have to fight Ryan Brierley to reclaim the same jersey in 2022.
